dentist win?

backstory: I work full time, my husband works part time and takes care of all kid stuff.

for YEARS we have always battled the phone call game... like, he's the one who sets up all kid appointments whether it's doctors, dentists, school changes, whatever. The worst was when they were toddlers because there were all kinds of programs they were in, and I'd be in the middle of the workday and get a phone call from some church group with "hey your kid isn't feeling well." and he's the one who dropped my child off, so why would they call me? I had to correct everyone!

the dentist is a regular one, they'd call me to confirm appointments that HE MADE. At first I'd say "okay we got it." then I'd say "okay, I'll tell Marc." then finally I got brave enough to say "CAN YOU PLEASE TELL MARC AND WHYYYYY DO YOU CALL ME?"

today I got a text from marc:

"You have a dentist appointment"

well... I guess I yelled enough? lol

Haha! But how MANY TIMES did you have to tell them to tell Marc?

Seriously no idea! It may have taken YEARS to get to this since it’s a call I’d get every six months, lol… it’s probably taken me 11 years of motherhood to be really FIRM with anyone who calls me. When they were babies I was like “oh, just a one time thing…” I didn’t know it was going to happen forever!

Haha, yeah I am by default the first person they call... which while it sometimes aggravates me (I am JUST as busy as he is), I have to admit I'm probably the better person to call since I do manage a bit more of the family calendar than he does.

LOL, yes, this. When I still lived with the kids, they'd call me (25 miles away) instead of the dad (15 miles, and salary, not hourly) when we clearly laid it out to have him be the one.

My husband and I don't have this trouble though we do get cross phone calls, we keep a shared google calendar and it works pretty well for us. But my dad recently switched all his stuff to have me as his primary contact since his divorce and when we had a recent snow storm they called me to tell me his appointment was cancelled. I'm like one, why are you calling me? But two, it's snowing and everywhere is closed... I think he'll figure it out and call to reschedule. LOL

We both work full time so we both handle everything, but daycare calls me every single time when Amaya needs to be picked up. The last time, I was in the bathroom and missed the call, and rather than moving on to Josh, they waited ten minutes and called me again. I haven't said anything yet, but it's coming because he works from home and I work in the office, so it's a lot easier for him to get her!

hahaha That worked! I would definitely have told them from the beginning that he takes care of all such work, though, and have them note it in their records. It sounds like he is a loving husband and wonderful father.
