I ran a 10K last weekend, the city's biggest. I have been training more this year, I'm faster, I thought it would be so much better maybe I'd get under 60 minutes? but I did not. I was only ONE minute faster than last year. and it was a nice cool day! what is up?

my splits were more even. last year my first split was 5:45, last was 7:22, I was walking. this year I ran the whole time and felt good.

splits
6:39
6:17
6:15
6:08
6:09 <- 31:28 5k, slower than last year
6:03
6:18
6:35
6:33
6:23 <- 1:03:20 10k as my run tracker time

chip time was 1:05:50 last year, 1:04:50 this year.

my friend rachel was there and said she runs for vibes not time. good idea. but running for time means something, right? a little bit?

eh. I'll take it! still a beautiful day for a run, got some cheering on, had a great time.

Are you doing any speed work workouts?

Well done! You are a year older, too. That factors in. But still a better time than last year, no walking at all, and you felt great at the end. Your training has paid off.

What are splits? I've heard about them in gymnastics but never in running.
